William J. Smyth is a Senior Associate at Wright Kim Douglas, ALC (WKD). Mr. Smyth received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Sociology from the University of California, Irvine and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. He has been licensed to practice law in the State of California since 2009. He is admitted to practice in all California state courts, in the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. Mr. Smyth’s practice focuses on estate planning, trust and probate administration, and civil and probate litigation.
Prior to joining WKD, Mr. Smyth was a Partner at his own firm, SW Smyth LLP. After over 10 years of private practice, Mr. Smyth has experience handling a wide array of legal matters including, but not limited to, bankruptcy law, trusts and estates, probate, family law, unlawful detainers, landlord-tenant disputes, and general civil litigation. Mr. Smyth has trial experience in both California state courts and Federal courts. He has also appeared in front of the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel (BAP) for the Ninth Circuit.
From 2018 through 2022, Mr. Smyth was selected to the Southern California Super Lawyers – Rising Stars list, an honor reserved for those lawyers who exhibit excellence in practice.
In his free time, Mr. Smyth enjoys spending time with his wife and newborn son, playing basketball and golf, and watching documentary films.
