Associate
Geber Penate is an Associate at WKD. Mr. Penate is a magna cum laude graduate from the University of La Verne, where he majored in Criminology and minored in Philosophy. He earned his Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University School of Law and has been a member of the State Bar of California since 2022.
Mr. Penate has exclusively worked in the probate, trust, and estates field since his first year of law school in which he interned at the elder law department at a San Francisco legal aid organization. There, he served San Francisco’s elderly community by establishing basic estate plans and assisting on elder abuse cases.
Since he became a licensed attorney, Mr. Penate has represented private clients, corporate clients, and private professional fiduciaries. Mr. Penate started his legal career guiding clients to navigate the California probate court system. His work focused on both defensive and affirmative filings with probate departments, including accounting petitions, petitions for instruction, and defenses against fiduciary removal or surcharge, primarily in the context of conservatorships and court-supervised trust administration for individuals with disabilities.
Mr. Penate now handles more complex disputes requiring court intervention, including cases involving financial elder abuse, neglect, undue influence, and breach of fiduciary duty. He was nominated as a SuperLawyer for 2026.
